This event has now finished.

Round off your Sunday the right way as the Boulevard hosts a different, established podcast each week, recorded in front of a live audience. Taking the most interesting and fresh new voices out of your headphones and into our auditorium.

Freelance Pod

Hosted by journalist Suchandrika Chakrabarti. Each episode, her guests tell her how the internet has changed, or invented, their work. Former guests include Charlie Brooker, Twitter’s Director of Curation and a Syrian refugee living in London, who’s now a stand-up comic, journalist and lecturer. The podcast has been played on BBC Radio 4, and performed live at the London Podcast Festival 2019.

Suchandrika will be joined for the live recording by author Gemma Milne, whose book on hype in science & tech reporting, Smoke and Mirrors, is coming out in April 2020. They’ll be talking about how to get your nonfiction book published (Gemma’s doing that, and makes a YouTube series about it), self-branding online and how hyped-up journalism gets amplified on the internet, giving us scary headlines like “Robots are going to steal our jobs!” They’re not. Find out why at the show…
